We started Village Cricket Co. to help make cricket more accessible than ever and give back to the community we have loved for many years.
How it began
My (Freddie’s) bat broke after a particularly impressive 13 from 27 balls. I was gutted but also excited to get a new wand.
After a quick search online, I was shocked at the prices of new bats. As a classic club cricketer who loved the game, but admittedly wasn’t that great, I resented paying hundreds for a new one.
Which sparked an idea, what if there was a way to get a decent bat without the price tag?
Upon investigating the cricket bat manufacturing process and the types of willow used, we saw an opportunity to make a new bat suitable for village cricketers without the usual high cost.
From there, Village Cricket Co. was born.
Meet Freddie
Passionate village cricketer and qualified fitness instructor, Freddie has been playing cricket since the age of 11. He’s never been much of a bowler but became a wicketkeeper by default after filling in one day and diving all over the place. Fairly quick between the wickets (often to the dismay of his teammates).
Best Batting: 179 (only dropped 8 times)
Best Bowling: Thinks he got a wicket once

- Can play a cover drive no matter where the ball has pitched
- Has hit a four between his legs (TWICE – in one game)
- Has had the most ducks out of anyone at GBCC in the last 12 years
Meet George
George has played cricket since he was 7 (helping out his brother’s U11 team). A classic pace bowler who loves the occasional (or regular) short one to spice things up. Can bat almost anywhere depending on the situation. Mainly turns up for the banter & post-game beer.

I have been delighted with my Village Cricket bat this year. It is an exceptional, well-balanced bat that could easily be mistaken for a bat quadruple the price. In the rare instances that I've middled a shot this year, it has flown off with minimal effort. A great bat and loyal companion in the middle this year.
